4 Days Tour from Marrakech to Fes is one of Morocco’s most popular desert tours. For this journey, we have selected a route that includes all the major attractions on the way from Marrakesh to Fes. In just 4 days, we will be giving you your dream Moroccan desert trip. This sahara tour 2022 captures the full range of the diversity of the center of Morocco.

Traveling from one imperial city to another one across the Sahara desert will show you a lot about Moroccan culture and history, not to mention all the fun activities. If you’re a foodie (which is exactly YOU), you’ll really appreciate how Moroccans are creative when it comes to cuisine. Make sure to eat only the iconic meals of every region.

The tour also includes scenic road tips, off-road desert drives, mind-blowing landscapes, and classical Moroccan villages. Over 1000 kilometers long, the tour includes Berber camping and culture, desert camel rides, hikes, and visiting Kasbahs, just to mention a few activities.

If you’re into a dopamine rush that is induced by a constant state of experiencing novelty, then this 4-day trip is definitely your thing. Adventurers and free souls live for this kind of experience.

What most people love about Morocco is how friendly is everyone is. Morocco is the safest country in North Africa; it’s certainly the safest country in the whole of Africa, which makes it rank among the safest places in the world. Morocco actually ranked the 24th safest country in the world in 2021, according to Global Finance. All of that makes our 4-day Desert Trip one of the safest tourist experiences in the world.

Of course you can get a little bit adventurous if you want. Not the whole of Morocco is a safe place. In fact the heights of Toudra Gorges are totally not safe, but you can climb them if you want. Surely there will be ropes and stuff that will protect you from falling, but still, your adrenaline will be pumping like fuel and your heart will start racing.

Day 1: Marrakesh - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate
Day 1: Marrakesh - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate

The 4 Days Tour from Marrakech to Fes starts early in the morning at Marrakesh. After breakfast, we will pick you up from your riad or hotel and set off in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Our first road trip takes from Marrakesh to Ait Benhaddou village.

The drive from Marrakesh to Ait Benhaddou takes you to a scenic view at the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. We will make several stops along the way to take pictures of these snowcapped peaks and of the scenic landscape along Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 in attitude).

At Ait Benhaddou village, we will visit the Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, which is one of the most popular Kasbahs in Morocco. The fortified, red-earthen village provides a glimpse of ancient Morocco. The village is about 1200 years old and most of the structures built centuries ago are still intact. Roaming the passageways of this classical Kasbah is an exciting experience.

It is important to note that Ait Benhaddou Kasbah is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will have lunch at the Ait Benhaddou village before leaving for the Ouarzazate city. As we approach this city, the climate becomes more desert-like, paving the way for a spectacular desert landscape.

Unlike Ait Benhaddou village, the city offers a vast range of attractions in addition to Kasbahs. However, Ait Benhaddou is popular because of its incredible ancient world features, including the architecture of the city. This is why it has been featured in popular movies like Black Hawk Down, Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones series among others.

We will make a quick stop at Atlas Studios for a photo session and then proceed downtown to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. We will also visit the Kasbah of Tifoultout before going to the riad for the night.

Day 2: Todra Gorge - Merzouga
Day 2: Todra Gorge - Merzouga

Today, you will start another adventure in your 4 Day Desert Tour Marrakech to Fes. After breakfast at your riad, we will take a road drive towards Todra Gorge. This scenic road trip passes through Kalaat M’Gouna, Boumalne, and Tanghir en route to Todra Gorge.

At Todra Gorge, you will be wowed by massive canyons about 400 meters deep. We will walk around the Todra Valley and tour major oases found along this valley. You will also have fun hiking the Todra River Gorges on foot.

You will have all the time to take as many pictures as you like while on site. We will also have lunch at a restaurant serving local food. After lunch, we will take a desert tour towards Todra Gorge, where camels will be waiting for us. You will be taking one of the best desert camel rides in Morocco, about an hour and 30 minutes to Berber camp.

We will also be climbing the giant dunes of Erg Chaabi, among other activities. Some of these dunes can be over 200 meters in height. You will enjoy a beautiful sunset over the dunes and the unique silence of the vast Sahara Desert when the night falls.

We will then spend the night at a traditional Berber nomad camp, where traditional food will be served. You will be entertained by traditional Berber music with dancing around the campfire before going to sleep.

    Day 3: Merzouga - Khamlia - Rissani - Merzouga
    Day 3: Merzouga - Khamlia - Rissani - Merzouga

In this day of 4 Days Tour from Marrakech to Fes, we will wake up early in the morning to experience the magical view of the sunrise on top of the dunes in the Merzouga desert.

Our tour guide will wake you up to ensure that you don’t miss the sight of a desert sunrise. You need a camera to capture this moment. After this, you will take a desert camel ride back to your riad or hotel where your driver will be waiting to take you on a more immersing drive into the Merzouga desert. Immediately after freshening up, we will take a 4x4 off-track desert ride towards Hassilabiad and Khamlia villages, where we will meet nomads living in the desert.

We will also be enjoying live Gnawa music by the local tribes. The 4x4 off-road trip will delve deeper into the desert to Lake Dayte Sarje, an oasis at the dunes, and a visit to black volcanic rocks. We will then go see the souks of Rissani for the best part of the afternoon.

In the evening, we will drive you back to your riad or hotel in Merzouga.

    4 Day 4: Merzouga - Midelt - Azrou - Ifrane - Fes
    4 Day 4: Merzouga - Midelt - Azrou - Ifrane - Fes

This is the last day of the 4 Day Desert Tour Marrakech to Fes. We will take a long road trip (more than 470 km) from Merzouga to Fes. We will pass through Erfoud, Errachidia, Aoufous, and the Ziz Valley.

The route passes through numerous tribal villages along the way. We will be stopping for photo sessions, as well as be interacting with local tribes, including Berbers. The oasis of Aoufous is one of the must-see places.

The panoramic view of this oasis is what makes it so popular in the Tafilalter region. At lunchtime we should be at the town of Midelt. We will eat at a local restaurant serving local cuisine.

After lunch, we will set off towards the cedar forest near the city of Azrou, which is popular because of its monkey troops. From Azrou, we will take another spectacular road drive to Ifran, which is famous for its skiing activities. That's the reason it is widely known as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco.” Fes will be our last stop.

Once we arrive there, we will drop you at your riad or hotel. That marks the end of a fantastic 4 days tour from Marrakech to Fes.

    Very good service !

Very good service ! We drove into Merzouga desert on a comfortable 4x4 with a good driver, who stayed a lot for photographing. The driver was nice and we had a good time. We spent the first night in a hotel where there was dinner and Moroccan entertainment from the owners of the hotel. We arrived in the desert the next day in the evening, but managed to ride a camel for half an hour, at 20.00 there was a common dinner and entertainment for all groups. The tour as described and the camps are clean. We totally recommend Atlas Excursion.
